Tim Bedner
 

Tim is an award-winning teacher and performer. He has taught at several universities, and has over 30 years of performance experience. He is a member of the guitar faculty at the Carleton University School of Music in Ottawa.


Additionally he is an instructor at Alcorn Music Studios, Ottawa's community school of contemporary music, and he hosts their "Inside the Music" lecture-demo series. Tim is a former member of the guitar faculty at Pittsburgh's Duquesne University School of Music and at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe PA. In addition to guitar instructional material of his own, Tim compiled and edited A Common Sense Approach to Improvisation with Pittsburgh jazz guitar legend Joe Negri. He also co-authored The Stage Fright Handbook with Elise Letourneau. He maintains a full private instruction practice teaching guitar, theory, and improvisation. Tim is a multiple-year honoree in Who's Who Among American Teachers.


He received his Master of Music Degree in jazz performance on a full graduate assistantship at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. He graduated with highest honors from Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he received his undergraduate training.


Most recently Tim has performed for Prince Charles and Lady Camilla, The Emperor and Empress of Japan at the Governor Generals residence at Rideau Hall and many other performances at the Governor Generals awards ceremonies.
