While at St. F. X. Marilee studied orchestral, Latin and African percussion, piano, vibraphone and drumset. Marilee has studied privately with renowned jazz drummers and educators Ed Jardine, Al Ashley and the highly respected drum guru Jim Blackley. In addition to freelance work with Jazz, R&B, Blues and Gospel musicians, Marilee performs with the "Alcorn Bedner Townsend" contemporary jazz trio, the "Alcorn David" blues & R&B band, the Elise Letourneau Quartet and the Capital Vox Jazz Choir. Marilee has also performed with Roddy Elias, Marcus Mosely, Matt Warnock, Diane White, Mark Ferguson, Jeff Johnston, Jim Vivian, Bill Coon, Steve Wallace, John Geggie, & Mike Murley. Marilee draws from a diverse background of musical performance including big band, theatre pit bands, percussion ensembles, classical percussion, southern rock, country, gospel, blues, R & B and jazz. Marilee, along with husband Mark Alcorn, co-owns and operates Alcorn Music Studios, a music school offering instrumental and voice lessons, courses, and the well-known "Inside the Music" Workshop series. . |
